And all the lessons we will learn

Will be beautiful and strange

*Naman! Beautiful ako, strange ka! Mwahahaha!

We'll have our fill of tears

*Iiyak sa katatawa, tatawa sa kaiiyak... sounds like us, indeed!

Our share of sighs

*Hay!

My only prayer is that you realize

*Nakakadalawa na ang 'only' na yan ha!

You'll always be beautiful in my eyes...

*jokes are half meant, kaya pangalawang joke na to, so ibig sabihin, fully meant na sha!

You will always be beautiful in my eyes

Ever more beautiful in my eyes

*Ikaw nga 'to! Baklang bakla kasi may 'Ever pang nalalaman! Ever!

Kiber sa mga tao... Pikchuran sa MRT!

And there are lines upon my face

*Meron ka din kala mo! Botox na ba?

From a life time of smiles

*Hindi halata sa mga pictures na gawain natin to no?

When the time comes to embrace

* Eh di hug! Oist! Suso mo oh! Nyehehehe! Mag Bra ka nga!

For one long last while

Ever more beautiful in my eyes...

*Soon! Lalabo na din ang mata ko! Mwahahaha!

Goes without saying... I Love You! Happy Birthday Charm!!!

Catching Up on My Reading

Before I conclude the Marlboro Black Series, let me first take a quick detour.

Lately, since there is literally nothing for me to do, aside from taking endless mugs of coffee and nocturnally hanging out with 'unsuitables' and falling in love with them, I have the wonderful chance to, as the song goes, catch up on my readings.

The three new Stephen King Novels I bought the last time I was in Manila still wait patiently on my bookshelf for my eager attention. I'm still making my way slowly through Lisey's Story. I have read an assortment of my book sale acquisitions and the number of unread titles are dwindling.

See I have a penchant for buying these titles under 50 pesos from the book sale. surprisingly, there were entertaining novels which I bought at 20 to 5 pesos each, hardbound at that. I was thinking that, if at all they are not to my liking, they'd male good kindling, bookends, or last minute 'gifts' for some forgotten spur of the moment birthday or something to that effect. Hehehe. Or I could just simply throw them away or donate to some 'literacy' book drive. Surprisingly, only one or two titles have disappointed me.

I recently read the second Clan Novel from the 13 novel series of Vampire the Masquerade Clan Novel Series. The first Clan Novel was Toreador. though I did not thoroughly enjoy that one, it had its good points. The Second Clan Novel in the series is Tzimisce. I honestly labored in finishing the novel because I had to return it immediately to my friend Mykus. With two novels in the series read, and two other titles sampled, I regret that it has not enthralled and captivated me the way Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles has.

Maybe its too rough and too violent for me, or the characters too numerous and easily dispatched and thrown away without much character development or significance. Maybe the intriguing world and rift between the Clans belonging to the Masquerade of the Camarilla or Anti Deluvians like the Toreadors, Gangrels, Ventrue and Brujah versus the darkly diabolical and twisted Sabbat clans of the Lasombra, Tzimisce and their lot is just not that interesting for me. My copy also features a sampling of the next Clan Novels Gangrel and Setite, which were lackluster, too. It does not help too, that each clan novel is written by a different author. It lacks the plot, focus and expert weaving of a story that Anne Rice weaves. It would be a mortal sin, if at all, for it to be even compared with Bram's Classic Dracula, even.

Speaking of Anne Rice, two more titles remain unread in my shelf. They are the final books in the Vampire Chronicles. Blackwood Farm, and Blood Canticle; which features a 'cross-over' between the Vampires and the Mayfair Witches. Honestly, although I am a big Chronicles fan, I am not that thrilled with the Mayfair Witches Saga. I have only read Lasher and Taltos in the series.

And even while were at it with the vampire books, puhleeeeeezzz.... Don't start with the Twilight Series.

My niece is a huge fan, and she brought with her from the states a collection of these books. I tried reading, for the sake of reading, and I threw my copy not even a quarter through the first book.

Need I say SWEET VALLEY HIGH Vampire Edition, or would that be too much of an insult to Francine Pascal?

Well...

Tulad mo. Mabait ka. Kinakaibigan mo mga waiters dito.

Luis: Why not? Tao naman sila ah. I frequent this place. Besides, I don't wanna mess with people handling my food. Mahirap na. At saka, naawa nga ako sa kanila. They are over worked and under paid. Tapos aawayin mo pa?

MB: Kaya kita gusto eh.

You don't wanna see me at my worst.

MB: Nagtataka nga ako pano mo ko nagustuhang kaibiganin eh.

Luis: Magkasundo tayo... Masaya ako pag kasama kita. I am not inclined to question happiness when it comes by. Wag na masyadong maraming tanong. Enjoy the moment na lang.

MB: Sabagay, pero, di ba? Of all people? Saka, you could chose to go elsewhere di ba? Naiisip ko lang. For the sake of discussion.

Luis: Because you're nice...

MB: Nah... Mas nice ka!

Luis: I could be very naughty you know. You barely know me. I should say the same about you. mamya nyan, magbabago ka din.

MB: I don't think so... Di ako magbabago.

Luis: Ows?
I'm sure.

Natahimik sya kaunti...

MB: Luis... Ahmm... Can I ask you something?

Luis: Shoot...

MB: Masasaktan ka ba pag nag ka girlfriend ako?

Ako naman ang natigilan.

Luis: Well... that remains to be seen... I can't speak conclusively... seloso kasi ako eh... Hehehehe...

MB: Eh di sige, wag na lang...

Luis: Wag na lang? Di ka mag gi-girlfiend?

MB: I don't wanna see you hurting...

Tama ba namang sagot yun?

I should be happy for you, as a matter of fact.

MB: Basta, ayoko nasasaktan ka.

Luis: Naman! Sweet mo ah! Mamya nyan mainlab ako sa yo... So... paano pag nangyari yun?

MB: Ha! Shet, anghirap nun ah! Di ako marunong ihandle yan. Never ko pa na experience yan!

Luis: Seryoso naman neto. alam ko wehere I stand no. Friends lang tayo. Saka, don't worry, pag nangyari yun, akong bahala... Lalayo ako. It won't be my first unrequited love. Keri yan!

MB: Ha? Bakit? Wag naman! Don't go.

Luis: Sus! I don't need a confusion in my life, and I do not want to be a confusion in someone else's.

I meant it when I said it. That's my game plan. I know I shouldn't because of a few basic reasons:
1. He's young.
2. He's Straight
3. If at all... He's slightly confused or could get confused.
4. I'm leaving soon.
5. I'm looking for a hubby/lifetime partner, not a bf, not a lover. I need a partner and he does not fit the bill.

Well at least, not in his current state. I know he's confused and I am not gonna be the one to sort out his confusion for him. That's his job, not mine. alam ko din na may gf na sya kasi nakikitext sya at di naman niya dinedelete, at meron pang two other girls syang pinopormahan. Tsk tsk tsk! Kids. Make that.. straight Kids!

Sent Message Log:

Halatang hindi sya pinagbigyan kasi alangan sya nung nag meet na kami for the movie.

Luis: Ha? Eh di ba last week pa nakaplano yan?

MB: Eh kasi....

Luis: Ay nako! Kasi, nahihiya hiya ka pa! Tara, treat na lang kita. If you want, bayaran mo ko next week.

MB: Talaga? Are you sure?

Luis: Yup! Bayaran mo kjo next week by treating me to another movie...

MB: Sure! Pramis yan!
Parang bata syang tuwang tuwa.

HAYNAKU!

Too late to cast the spell PROTEGIO!

So, yun.. nasa love seat kaming dalawa.

Then it snapped! My self control broke loose and just fizzled away, just like SECTUM SEMPRA!

I stretched, casually drapped my hand over his belly. Hugged him tight and snuggled. I don't know if it's still soda that I was drinking, or Liquid Luck!

Luis: Lamig ng aircon grabe.

MB: Oo nga eh (Hugging me back)

Luis: I can't feel my fingers na yata.

MB: Same here... (grasping my hand and locking it with his)

I kissed him sa cheecks. He did not flinch. I went back to snuggling. He gave me a warm, soft kiss at the top of my head, then, placed his head on mine...

This is love! Pwede nang mamatay kasama ni Dumbledore! AVADA KEDAVRA!

To Be Concluded...

Marlboro Black Part 1

I really had a difficult time debating whether to write about this one or not. When I got to decide on writing it, I tackled the difficulty on how to 'attack' this issue. Should I write it as straight narrative? Should it be an oblique cryptic post, or should it be in an epistolary form addressed to the person concerned? I know that I should get to writing it soonest or else, it will just fade away or I might never get the courage to post it ever. Thus, I write.

What is this all about? Well, to cut to the chase, here it is, plain and simple... I fell in love.

What makes it so difficult and complicated is the fact that it is not necessarily 'unrequited', which would have made it easier and simpler, but neither is it reciprocal, too..well, not exactly in that same way it should be reciprocated. Actually, it's all confusing. Am I making any sense so far? Hehehehe

Let's call him Marlboro Black.
Bold, strong, intense, Menthols!

How I met him, should of course, be the proper way to start the story.

There is this 24hour coffee shop that I frequent. I would sit down and have coffee, read, write, spend idle time and even wait for morning's light in this cafe. Just beside it is a bar and grill.
He was doing OJT for his TESDA Certification for bar tending in the said bar and grill. HE would get off from work at 1 or 2 AM and since he lives in a district far from the City Proper, he woukd wait until the morning for jeepneys going to their place. Tambay me, bored to death and nocturnal vampire, it was inevitable how we struck a friendship and begun hanging out together to wait for sun up.

He was nice and cute alright, and you can say, my type. Tall, smooth, fair, bit chubby, and well, pleasant. I admit that I had a crush on him, but not that intense for me not to be able to brush aside so it wouldn't get in the way of our friendship. After all, he is double mortal sin in my books. One: He's straight - that- according to him, and Two, he's just twenty - a kid- really and barely a man.

For weeks on end, we would sip coffee together, smoke our lungs out, and tell stories of whatever hits our fancy for the night. I began to get to know him better, and actually look forward to him getting off from work and joining me in my table. It didn't help that my usual pa-morningan possee's were elsewhere with something else's to do, that we were left on our own proverbially, just him and me, to wait for morning's light.

The set up was really good for me, and there was never a stir in my chest, not until he started 'looking' for me. He would text me asking where I was if I took too long in the night to go to the cafe and if he wouldn't see me there when he buys his cigarette from the nearby stall, or take a quick break. He would tell me how he would be off in a while, and would ask where I was and if I wanted him to follow where I was as soon as he gets off from work. He started wanting in on my 'gigs' and even wanting to hang around even during his off-days.

Sample Text exchange #1:
Marlboro Black: where ka na? Off ko na in a while.
Luis Batchoy: Wait, here pa (name of bar) comforting a friend. Hartbroken kasi.
MB: Ok.
Pagod ka pa sa work eh.
MB: Nah, wait kita, won't eat without u. kaya bilisan mo.

Shet naman kasi eh! Parang boyfriend lang?

Sample Text exchange #2:
MB: Pang* wer ka? Grabe ulan...
Luis: Here sa haus, tuck in bed. Need to kick myself up, need to go out for kofi!
MB: Yeah, sarap magbabad sa kama... Oh sige, kitakits dun. Di sana ako aalis ng bahay kasi off but since magkakape ka pala, sama ako.
Luis: Ayt, see u then...
After 30minutes

Demanding!
*Pang is a shortcut for Papang, which roughly means papa. It is not uncommon for males to call each other Papang or Pre, just like girls call each other Mamang, or Mang or Mare.

There was one time I got invited to birthday of a friend. He kinda inserted himself into it, and went with me even if he does not know anyone there, except the celebrant, whom, perhaps out of courtesy, invited him na lang when she saw us together. During the party, shempre, socialize ako because I know most of the guest. Since di pa naman ako gutom when we arrived, nauna na syang kumain sa loob habang nakikipag chikahan ako sa mga nagiinuman sa labas. Pagpasok ko to check on him, nakasimangot na sya.

Saka babalikan naman kita no!

NAKNAMPUTCHA!

Last day nya sa OJT. Nalaman ko sinapak nya palihim yung isang kasamahan nyang waiter. Kinukwento nya sa akin habang nag kakape kami..

Luis: Ba't mo naman kais pinatulan yun eh? Alam mo namang gungong yun eh.
MB: Eh kasi eh!
Luis: Kasi ano? Di ka naman basagulero ah!
MB: Napuno ako eh.
Luis: Sa?
MB: Lagi nya kasi akong kinakantyawan.
Luis: Na?
Naku!
MB: Eh gago sya eh. Anong akala nya sa yo? Di ka naman ganun di ba?

Ahmmm... shet! Bakit warm fuzzy feeling? Bakit ako kinikilig? Taena!

Say tuned

Love-Hate and Yellow Ribbons

Its really a love-hate relationship that we have.

I love her. All of a sudden, she does something that I think is very stupid, and unbecoming of her, so I start hating her.

Then she does something to redeem herself.

Then something blows up and she ingratiates herself with me and my sense of political propriety. I hate her once more. Then again, what is so 'proper' in politics after all? Make that, Philippine politics.

Then again, I still have high respects for her. I still have that admiration for her selfless sacrifice and hard work for the country. For a housewife to barely pull a country through, after a devastating regime under a dictator; to show the world how peace really has a chance; how prayer is power; and how this third world country could ascend to a level of global greatness!

With all the water under the bridge, and the not so helpful at all antics of some people she calls 'family'...

Never mind Tessie...

Never mind Noynoy...

Never mind Danding...

Never mind Kris even...

For now...

"Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'round that old oak tree, if you still want me..."

I still want you, Tita Cory... Get well soonest!

Oh and please don't get me wrong Tita...

Above all, this one, at the very most, is...

For Ninoy!

Dear Batchoy Denizens,
Follow suit, you like?
1. Create an entry entitled: “Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino!“. A link to this original entry will be appreciated, but is not required.

2. Post a yellow ribbon in your blog for President Cory Aquino. Whatever form of yellow ribbon that your creative imagination can come up with.

3. Invite other bloggers to tie a yellow ribbon for Cory.

100 Me-Me Over Load

First and foremost let me offer my heartfelt gratitude to those people who care enough to bug me over SMS, YM, Email and what nots regarding my long silence in the blogosphere. At first I just wrote it off as a deviation to my usual regular posting, but really, I try to avoid being over sentimental, but thanks for your concern.

Secondly, let me say that I have been great, alive and well, and gloriously fab, a bit skewed here and there, but still in my elements.

Third, I had so much to say but sometimes, some things are better left unsaid. Some, may spill over the next few posts. Babawi ako ng bonggang bongga.

Fourth salamat for keeping track and tabs here sa Batchoyan. I wasn't really gone. I was here, but not really here. Evidence of this are the comments I left in some of your blogs.

Fifth, Babawi ako ng bonggang bongga, and while my mind is a bit derailed, here's something to start off things... What better way to start the juices dripping by doing bonggang bonggang ME-Me... pagpasensyahan na muna... ENJOY!

Welcome me back and show me some lovin! Come on, slurp some stew! Batchoy's on me! Make that, on Me-ME!
